The Heart of Somerset

Welcome to the official Heart of Somerset Tourism web site.  Located centrally between the north and south coasts the area is home to The Blackdown, Brendon and Quantock Hills, Somerset Levels and Moors and the market towns of Taunton, Wellington and Wiveliscombe, the gateway to Exmoor National Park.

Visit Somerset is calling on the public to share their Somerset secrets as part of a new campaign. The tourism body is looking to create a free guide to the lesser known corners of the county, based on tips from those who know it best – the local residents. You can nominate your secrets via the website, http://www.visitsomerset.co.uk/site/home/share-your-somerset-secrets and everyone who enters will have a chance to win a weekend break for two at the award-winning Spears Cross B&B in historic Dunster. Closing date for entries is 1 March 2009.

Along with nearby Bristol, Dorset and Devon, Somerset is the 'Perfect Rural Retreat' for a day visit, short break or holiday.
